Subject: Sanford's Automotive Scammers
Alert
Attention Consumers:
I just want you to be aware of a auto shop called Sandford Automotive. We took our 2001 Mitsubishi in for the head gaskets to be repaired they told us a estimate of $1200.00 after we got it there and they checked it out they then told us that the engine was fine and that the exhaust manifold was cracked and we needed our heads resurfaced. I ask them how much it would cost and he told us $1700.00 and told us our vehicle would be done by that following Friday. When I called that Friday, they told me it would not be done til Monday, when I called on Monday the mechanic told us that he was waiting on parts that he ordered that I did not give him permission to order and that now we needed a whole new engine and the labor would cost us $3000.00 so we looked around and found a 99' Mitsubishi Montero engine, we called the shop and ask them if it would work they informed us that it would so we bought the engine and had it taken into the shop. They told us that again he would have it done by Friday, I called him on Friday ask him if it was done he said it would be done by Monday. I ended up calling him by Wednesday and he told us that the engine would not work. I went to him this monday asking him how much it would cost to just get our car out of the shop and he gave us a estimate of $2800.00 as a consumer I ask him if he could show us a printed out itemized list of the work he has already done on our car to make it that much and he refused to show us a list, refused to show us any work he did on our car refused to show us the supposed parts that he ordered that he could not take back and charged us for. I just want to let anyone out there to not go to Sanford Automotive because I believe they are scammers. Further to let you know where they are located they are located at the corner of 13th and Hines in Columbia SC.
I have reported this to the Better Business Bureau and the SC Attorney Generals Office.
I will post an update as soon as this is resolved one way or another. BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE!
Up Date to December 6, 2010
We still have
not received our car back that Sanford Automotive scammed from us. BBB
could not help because Sanford Automotive was not willing to work with us
on even showing us something to explain their charges and we know that Sanford
Automotive charged us for parts we didn't even need and that Sanford
Automotive told us that we didn't need. Sanford Automotive was suppose
to just replace the engine but they never did that either. How cruel is this?
Beware of Sanford
Automotive!
